Stress, bad for female fertility

You have difficulties to be pregnant. What if it's because of the stress? Stress is demonstrated by researchers at the Boston University School of Public Health.

Stress, bad for female fertility

For their study, researchers recruited more than 4,700 women aged 21 to 45 and nearly 1,300 men over 21 years of age. Through a test, they measured participants' stress in relation to the unpredictability of their daily lives.

In general, women had higher stress scores than men.

Less chance of being pregnant

The results of the stress test were evaluated by scores from 0 to more than 25. The researchers found that women whose test results were greater than 25 had a 13% chance of becoming pregnant than those whose results were less than 10.

Stress makes it less available

This drop in the chance of having a child when you want it can be due to the fact that, in times of stress, one feels less available for one's couple, more tired, more worried and that one has, consequently , less sex.

Stress can also have repercussions on the female cycle, which can become more irregular, which does not help the couple know what is the best time of the month to have a baby.

Hence the importance, according to the researchers, of integrating, in the pre-conception care, the mental health of the couple, and more particularly that of the woman, the test having shown that there is no was no connection between male stress and design difficulties.
